Across the world

Leaving for Africa in the morning. I looked at a world map this morning and, well, it's a long way from here. No sat phone, no contact with home. That'll be weird for me. If I happen by an internet cafe, I may post something here, though it wouldn't be until after we get off the mountain in about 10 days. If I don't manage to post, don't assume the worst; it probably means I just didn't get anywhere near the Internet, or maybe that I took a little too much mocking wanting to get online whilst I'm in Africa. Have a great few weeks, everyone.

Better see the Canyon soon...

The CNN article from today makes me nervous about the future of the Grand Canyon. There's pretty good reason to be concerned about environmental impact on all of the great parks of the southwest, as well as pretty much everywhere else. But knowing that there is a government-appointed committee of people working actively on the Grand Canyon in particular makes me think we're doomed...
